I still don’t know why you aren’t huge on YouTube yet. My iPhone recordings of you chasing your tail and playing fetch are better than Maru any day. It’s okay though, your day will come. My mom really likes the videos, at least. You are the reason I can better connect with my clients.
Whenever I watch someone make a life-changing decision about their pet, I think of what I would do if it was you, and my heart breaks. I cannot imagine a day without you waking me up, greeting me at the door, or finding a drowned fake mouse in the waterbowl.
You bring so much light into my life every single day, and I cannot picture how boring it would be without you. People who claim they “don’t like cats” have not had a cat like you. You could single-pawedly change the views of cat-haters everywhere. I’ve recently realized that maybe it’s a little weird that my friends always ask about you, but really it’s just a testament to how cool you are.
My favorite holiday with you is obviously Halloween. No other cat on the planet can pull off human Conan O’Brien, Michael Phelps, the Pope, Puss in Boots, or flip flops better than you. I wish your cat Mabel was a better sport about it all. Being a veterinarian can be mentally, physically, and emotionally draining – but pets like you make it all worth it. Always.
You inspire me to be the best doctor I can be for my other patients, because I wouldn’t want anything but the best for you. Thank you for your love, your patience, and your connection with me.
I will love you always.
